Steve Vasgaard, RICP® President and Founder of Wealth and Retirement Strategies, Inc. and Wealth and Retirement Investments, Inc.
I began my insurance career in Charlotte, NC helping the self-employed obtain individual health insurance though the National Association for the Self Employed. I was successful as an agent and was promoted to sales manager to open an office in Nashville, TN. After a several years in this position I moved to the property and casualty business with Allstate. I pretty quickly discovered that the P&C business was not suited for me. I still hold my P&C license.
My next move in the industry was to Mass Mutual in Knoxville, TN. I was a career agent with them for five years. My specialty with Mass was family business succession planning. Just like I do today, I coordinated a team of advisors to help the family business with this vital planning.
Today I still work with all business owners with their special needs and opportunities. In 2001 I left MassMutual to start an economic based comprehensive retirement income planning for baby boomers and early retirees.
Retirement planning has gotten much more complicated than it was just a few years ago. In wanting to give the best advice possible, I have completed American College’s “Retirement Income Certified Professional” (RICP®) program. The 300+ hours I spent studying the retirement planning courses separates me from other advisors who say they do retirement planning but for whatever the reason are not dedicated enough to become certified in their chosen profession.
If you were going to have heart surgery would you use a heart specialist or a general practitioner? I am that specialist for your retirement income planning.
Retirement planning is best done with a team of other specialists coordinating their efforts’ for the betterment of the client. I have a coordinated with other strategic advisors to help design a macro retirement plan for you that will be second to none.
